Join resident builder Peter Wolfkamp as he installs one of our Bailey Slim Jim 2000L urban water tank. As opposed to a standard install with downpipes hanging in the air and running into the top of the tank, the wet seal method diverts the water underground, before running into the water tank.
On this site the tank was set away from the house, with a pathway in between. The homeowner wanted to achieve a clean installation where the pipework was not as obvious. To achieve this, we cut through the path, excavated a trench, and had the drain layer install a stormwater connection from the edge of the house, under the path, and up to the tank inlet.
This method works as the tank inlet is lower than the gutter system, allowing for gravity to push the water upwards into the tank.
An important feature of this installation is the use of the Wallace seal, used to connect the PVC pipe into the tank. This creates a snug, watertight seal that ensures the water flows directly into the tank.
