our story
After moving to New Zealand in the late 60’s Ian Bailey became interested in the amazing potential of plastics. He began his career in Wellington as a plastics cadet with Plastic Products Ltd (later know as AHI).
Always curious, he began asking himself “How can plastics be used to enrich the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders?” so in 1973, the Bailey journey began.
Fueled by a “do it yourself” Kiwi spirit, Ian teamed up with his son David Bailey, a product design engineer and passionate sustainability supporter. Together, they developed a revolutionary range of water tanks for the construction and agricultural sectors.
Pioneering the rotational moulding process, Ian designed and built highly specialised machines to craft water tanks and only water tanks.
After the success of the ICON water tank range, the Bailey brand adventured into the urban water tank market. Inspired once again by a desire to enrich the lives of New Zealanders with plastics, a range of innovative urban tanks for the residential sector was developed.
In 2005 Bailey invested in their first pipe extrusion line, a revolutionary co-extrustion line for producing double wall stormwater and sewer pipe, and this is where Bazooka pipe first started.
Nowadays Ian Bailey has taken a back seat, and his son David Bailey leads the Bailey team.
Today, that ongoing Kiwi spirit and passion to create things in a better way is core to everything they do. With a focus on a simple mission, to be innovators in sustainable water management.
